Taking the First Step Towards Healing
Understanding and Overcoming the Fears of Starting Therapy
Starting therapy can feel intimidating, and it's completely normal to have fears or doubts. Many people worry about being judged, feeling vulnerable, or not knowing what to expect. You might be concerned that therapy won’t work or that it will be too overwhelming. It's important to remember that therapy is a safe, non-judgmental space where you can go at your own pace. You don’t need to have all the answers or be “fixed” to start—therapy is a journey, and each step you take is progress. The decision to seek help is a courageous one, and it’s okay to feel uncertain at first. You are not alone in these feelings, and the right therapist will walk alongside you, offering support, understanding, and guidance as you explore your thoughts and emotions in a way that feels right for you.
Benefits of Virtual Therapy
Virtual therapy offers the same depth and effectiveness as in-person sessions, with added convenience and accessibility. Whether you're balancing a busy schedule, living in a remote area, or simply prefer the comfort of your own space, online therapy makes professional support easier to access. With virtual sessions, you can meet with me from anywhere in [your province/state] without worrying about commute times or office visits. Plus, for many, being in a familiar environment helps create a sense of ease, making it easier to open up and engage in the therapeutic process.
How Virtual Therapy Works
Sessions are conducted through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform, ensuring privacy and confidentiality. All you need is a stable internet connection, a quiet space, and a device with a camera. Virtual therapy allows for the same meaningful connection and tailored approach as in-person sessions, with the added flexibility to fit your schedule and lifestyle. If you’re new to online therapy, I’m happy to guide you through the process so you feel comfortable and prepared.
Pricing
Green Bottle Sliding Scale Model
I believe therapy should be an investment in your well-being, and I want to make it as accessible as possible. My pricing follows a Green Bottle Model, meaning I offer different rates based on your financial situation, so you can choose the option that best fits your current circumstances —no questions asked, no financial documents required. I trust my clients to select the rate that feels fair and sustainable for them.
Sliding Scale Pricing:
-
$130 (Tier 1) - This tier is for those who can pay the full rate without financial strain. Choosing this option helps sustain lower-cost spots for those who need them.
Someone selecting this rate might:- Own your home or rent a higher-end property
- Have reliable savings and little to no financial insecurity
- Have an expendable income (e.g., dining out, travel, shopping without concern)
- Be able to take vacations or unpaid time off without financial strain
- Want to support lower-cost spots for those with fewer financial resources
-
$90 (Tier 2) - This tier is for those who can comfortably afford therapy but would find the full rate a bit of a stretch. Selecting this tier contributes to keeping therapy accessible for others while remaining financially sustainable for you.
Someone selecting this rate might:- Rent or own a home but have financial responsibilities that limit flexibility
- Have some expendable income but need to budget carefully for non-essentials
- Be able to take a vacation occasionally but with financial planning
- Have debt, but it doesn’t prevent you from meeting your basic needs
-
$65 (Tier 3) - This tier is for those who would struggle to pay the full or middle tier but can still contribute toward the cost of therapy. This option helps cover essential expenses while keeping therapy affordable.
Someone selecting this rate might:- Experience financial strain meeting basic needs but manage with budgeting
- Have little to no expendable income and rely on second-hand purchases
- Have minimal savings and worry about unexpected expenses
- Take vacations rarely or not at all due to financial limitations
-
$45 (Tier 4) - This tier is for those who would not be able to access therapy without a significantly reduced rate. If paying more would prevent you from meeting basic needs, this option is here to ensure therapy remains accessible.
Someone selecting this rate might:- Have unstable or insecure housing
- Struggle to afford food, transportation, or healthcare
- Have significant debt that impacts daily living
- Be unemployed, underemployed, or relying on government assistance
- Have no financial safety net or expendable income
Your mental health matters, and I want you to feel empowered to choose the rate that aligns with your situation. No proof is required—just an honest reflection of what works best for you. If you have any questions about pricing or availability, feel free to reach out.
Note: When booking a session, you may see the full standard rate displayed in the Jane booking system. However, during the intake process, you will have the opportunity to select the pricing tier that best fits your financial situation. Once selected, your chosen rate will be linked to your client account and reflected in the amount you are charged.
