Emily Reimer
Counselling
I support adolescents (13+) and adults navigating anxiety, trauma, ADHD, neurodivergence, grief, and life transitions. My work is trauma-informed, collaborative, and grounded in deep respect for each client’s lived experience.
I draw from narrative therapy, psychodynamic and humanistic approaches, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) to support healing that feels both gentle and effective. Therapy is tailored to your needs, goals, and pace.
I strive to create a space where clients feel safe to explore their experiences, build insight, and move forward with greater clarity and self-compassion.

I approach therapy with warmth, authenticity, and a deep commitment to creating a space where clients feel safe, respected, and genuinely understood. My work is grounded in a trauma-informed, person-centered approach, integrating psychodynamic therapy, narrative therapy, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) to support meaningful and lasting change.
I believe healing isn’t just about managing symptoms — it’s about making sense of your experiences, understanding the patterns that shape you, and reconnecting with your inner strengths. Together, we work at a pace that feels right for you, with care for both your emotional and nervous system needs.
I work with adolescents (13+) and adults navigating anxiety, trauma, grief, life transitions, ADHD, and neurodivergence. I have a particular interest in supporting neurodivergent clients, including those with ADHD, and I understand both the challenges and strengths that can come with navigating the world differently. My approach emphasizes curiosity over judgment, collaboration over “fixing,” and strategies that actually fit your life.
For clients processing trauma or distressing experiences, I also offer Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), a gentle, evidence-based approach that helps the brain reprocess difficult memories without requiring clients to relive them in detail. ART can be especially helpful for individuals who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure how to put their experiences into words.
Outside of therapy, I’m a creative soul with a love for art, embroidery, and cross-stitch. I enjoy cozy games like The Sims 4 and Stardew Valley, caring for my houseplants, spending time with my fiancé, Matt, and my Labradoodle, Harlow, and unwinding with a good book.
I believe therapy works best when there’s a genuine connection. If you’re looking for a therapist who will meet you with warmth, honesty, and deep respect for your story, I’d be honoured to walk alongside you.
Lighting the Way: The Story Behind Lightkeeper Counselling
My path to becoming a therapist began long before private practice. Prior to entering the counselling field, I spent seven years working as a case manager in addiction recovery housing programs, supporting individuals navigating complex trauma, loss, and instability. That work shaped me deeply — it taught me the importance of meeting people with compassion, humility, and respect for their lived experience.
While that role focused largely on crisis support, I felt drawn to work that allowed for deeper healing and long-term growth. I wanted to help people not only survive difficult moments, but better understand themselves, their patterns, and their capacity for resilience. This led me to pursue my Master’s in Counselling Psychology and to develop an integrative, trauma-informed approach to therapy.
Lightkeeper Counselling was founded on the belief that therapy can act as a steady guide during life’s most overwhelming moments. Just as a lighthouse doesn’t remove the storm but helps you navigate through it, therapy doesn’t erase pain — it offers clarity, grounding, and direction. My work is especially informed by my experience supporting neurodivergent clients, adolescents, and individuals processing trauma, grief, and major life transitions.
Today, my practice integrates narrative therapy, psychodynamic and humanistic approaches, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), allowing me to support clients in ways that are both gentle and effective. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply seeking a deeper understanding of yourself, I aim to offer a calm, collaborative space where meaningful change can unfold.
If you’re looking for therapy that honours your story while helping you move forward with greater clarity and confidence, I’d be honoured to walk alongside you.
