Taking the First Step Towards Healing

Starting therapy can feel intimidating — especially if you’re unsure what to expect, worried about being judged, or concerned that therapy might feel overwhelming. These hesitations are completely understandable.

At Lightkeeper Counselling, therapy is collaborative, trauma-informed, and paced to your comfort. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you begin. Together, we focus on understanding what’s bringing you here, building a sense of safety, and choosing approaches that align with your needs — whether that includes talk therapy, ADHD-informed support, or gentle trauma-processing methods like Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART).

Seeking support is a meaningful first step. If you’re feeling uncertain but curious, that’s often enough to begin.

Areas of Focus

I work with adolescents (13+) and adults who are navigating a range of emotional and life challenges. Common areas of focus in my practice include:

  • ADHD and neurodivergence
Support with emotional regulation, overwhelm, burnout, self-esteem, and developing strategies that actually fit your brain.

  • Trauma and distressing experiences
Including childhood trauma, relational trauma, and experiences that continue to feel “stuck” or intrusive.

  • Anxiety and emotional overwhelm
Persistent worry, panic, shutdown, or feeling on edge.

  • Grief and loss
Supporting individuals navigating death, ambiguous loss, and major life changes.

  • Life transitions and identity exploration
Adolescence, adulthood, career shifts, relationship changes, and questions of meaning and direction.

Therapy is always tailored — not every client will resonate with every focus area, and that’s okay.

Therapeutic Approaches

My work is integrative and trauma-informed, meaning I draw from multiple therapeutic approaches and adapt them to your unique needs, goals, and comfort level.

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)

ART is a gentle, evidence-based trauma therapy that helps the brain reprocess distressing memories without requiring clients to relive them in detail. It can be especially helpful for trauma, anxiety, phobias, and experiences that feel emotionally “stuck.”

Narrative Therapy

Narrative therapy focuses on understanding the stories we carry about ourselves and our experiences. This approach can be particularly empowering for adolescents and neurodivergent individuals, helping separate identity from struggles and reconnect with strengths, values, and agency.

Psychodynamic & Humanistic Therapy

These approaches support deeper self-understanding by exploring patterns, relationships, and emotional experiences in a compassionate, non-judgmental way. Together, we work to increase insight, emotional awareness, and self-compassion.

Sessions may integrate more than one approach, depending on what feels most supportive for you.

Pricing

Green Bottle Sliding Scale Model

I believe therapy should be an investment in your well-being — and that access to care shouldn’t depend on rigid pricing structures. My practice uses a Green Bottle Sliding Scale Model, which offers multiple rate options based on your current financial situation.

Clients are invited to choose the rate that feels fair and sustainable for them. No proof is required, and no questions are asked. I trust clients to make an honest selection based on their circumstances.

Sliding Scale Rates:

  • $150 (Tier 1) For those who can pay the full rate without financial strain. Selecting this tier helps sustain reduced-rate spaces for others.
This tier may be appropriate if you:

    • Have stable housing and reliable savings
    • Experience little to no financial insecurity
    • Have expendable income and financial insecurity

  • $110 (Tier 2) For those who can afford therapy comfortably but find the full rate to be a stretch.
This tier may be appropriate if you:

    • Have stable housing with ongoing financial responsibilities
    • Can afford non-essentials when budgeting
    • Have some debt but can meet basic needs

  • $85 (Tier 3) For those who would struggle to afford the higher tiers but can still contribute toward the cost of therapy.
This tier may be appropriate if you:

    • Experience financial strain meeting basic needs
    • Have limited savings and little expendable income
    • Need to budget carefully for therapy to be accessible

  • $65 (Tier 4) For those who would not be able to access therapy without a significantly reduced rate
This tier may be appropriate if you:

    • Experience housing or employment insecurity
    • Struggle to afford food, transportation, or healthcare
    • Rely on government assistance or have no financial safety net

Your mental health matters, and I want you to feel empowered — not scrutinized — when choosing a rate. If you’re unsure which tier fits best, you’re welcome to reach out for guidance.

Please note: When booking through Jane, the full standard rate may appear initially. During the intake process, you’ll have the opportunity to select your chosen pricing tier, which will then be applied to your account.
